UAE Multiple Entry Visa – FAQs

The visa is designed for frequent visitors — tourists, business travelers, families of UAE residents, and investors, who want flexible, long-term access to the UAE without the administrative burden of applying for short-term visas repeatedly. It is intended for tourism, family visits, and business exploration. Employment under this visa is not permitted.

You must provide a bank statement for the 6 months prior to your application showing a minimum balance of USD 4,000 (or equivalent in your local currency). The statement must be stamped or certified by your bank. Some portals or agencies may also accept a salary certificate in addition to the bank statement.

Issuance fees are refunded if the application is rejected by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship. However, application and service fees charged by third-party typing centers or travel agencies are generally non-refundable. Always confirm the refund policy before paying.

Each entry permits a stay of up to 90 days. You can extend this once within the UAE for an additional 90 days, giving a maximum continuous stay of 180 days per visit. The total physical presence in any rolling 12-month period should not exceed 180 days for typical tourist visa compliance.

You cannot directly convert a tourist visa to a residence visa from within the UAE as a rule, however, since 2022 the UAE allows status changes in certain categories. If you find employment or meet investment criteria while in the UAE on a tourist visa, you can apply for a residence visa without necessarily leaving. Confirm the current policy with the ICP or an immigration consultant as rules evolve.

No. The 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa cannot be extended beyond its 5-year validity. When it expires, you must apply for a new 5-year visa if you wish to continue using this category. The visa's 5-year validity is fixed from the date of issue.

No visa guarantees entry; UAE immigration officers retain the right to deny entry based on their assessment. However, holding a valid 5-year multiple-entry visa significantly smooths the entry process. Carry supporting documents (accommodation proof, return ticket, financial evidence) to facilitate smooth border clearance.

The visa is linked to the passport it was issued on. If your passport expires, the visa technically remains valid until its own expiry, but you will need your new passport alongside the old one (with the visa) when travelling. Some airlines and immigration officers require the passport bearing the visa to be presented even if expired. It is advisable to carry both passports.
